LinkedIn For Professionals

Your online presence is crucial to your professional elevation and success. I recommend having a professional LinkedIn profile that highlights all your professional experience, credentials, and expertise, but that also includes any highlights of your personal and professional life that you would like people to know about. This can include things like volunteer work, awards, professional memberships, community engagement, relevant personal hobbies and interests and media coverage you’ve received, and more. 

Your LinkedIn profile is part of your Professional Brand, and it encompasses everything you have done in a professional and impressive manner in order to build a solid professional network that can help you stand out as a leader in your industry which can enhance and advance your career tremendously. 

There is so much you can do to enhance your LinkedIn profile professionally. I highly encourage my clients to include the following components at minimum, in addition to their professional expertise and accomplishments to establish a professional and stand out profile:

• A professional cover banner that relates to who you are professionally. 
• Any portfolios, links, media exposure, awards, presentations, etc. in the highlights section right under your title.
• A sentence about the impact you make in your industry or your professional mission/vision, rather just your professional title in the section right under your name.

• Complete the skills quizzes section to add endorsed relevant skills to your skills section
• Write 3-5 articles relating to your expertise in your industry and share them under the publish an article section on LinkedIn.
• If you own a business, create business pages for each business and ensure it is aligned with your brand. Invite your network to like your business pages. Post often. 
• Ask for professional recommendations from people in your network. They show up on your page and make a great impression.
• Volunteer work and Community Engagement is important to point out as well.
